Use HISTI on your terms

Terms of Service

These terms explain what HISTI provides, what it does not provide, and what you agree to when you use the website or check-in.

Effective September 14, 2026

1. Using HISTI

By accessing or using HISTI, you agree to these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, do not use the service.

Age policy. The main HISTI check-in is not intended for users under age 13. HISTI does not ask for your date of birth. A separate children’s version is coming soon.

You may stop using HISTI at any time. You may also reset locally stored check-in data from the check-in interface.

2. What HISTI is

HISTI is a self-guided reflection tool about information sharing. It helps you describe what you did or would share with a person or audience and summarizes those answers using HISTI’s scoring rules.

HISTI is not a diagnosis, legal opinion, safety certificate, professional risk assessment, personality test, or measure of your character. A result cannot determine whether a specific disclosure was safe, unsafe, necessary, lawful, helpful, or harmful.

3. Keep real private information out of HISTI

HISTI is designed so you can answer by choosing descriptions. Do not type or paste the real private or sensitive value into the website.

  • do not enter passwords, recovery codes, one-time codes, security answers, private keys, or authentication secrets;
  • do not enter full account, card, banking, government-ID, or similar identifying numbers;
  • do not enter exact private addresses, private document contents, or other information you do not want disclosed; and
  • use a private nickname rather than a real name when that is more comfortable.

4. Your choices and rights while using the check-in

  • You may refuse any question.
  • You may skip sensitive Categories C and D from their warning screens.
  • You may go back, review, stop, or reset.
  • You are not required to share your result.
  • You remain responsible for deciding what information, if any, you disclose outside HISTI.

5. Privacy and local data

Check-in answers, recipient labels, progress, and result snapshots are designed to stay in your browser. HISTI uses localStorage for resumable progress and result history. HISTI does not set or use cookies for the check-in.

You can export the HISTI data stored in your browser as JSON, copy it, view the raw export, or delete it using Reset/browser site-data controls.

The production service uses a Content Security Policy with connect-src 'none' and form-action 'none'. See the Privacy Policy for the technical details and the limits of that statement, including ordinary static hosting requests.

6. Sharing is your action

If you use the Share feature, your browser or operating system may hand the generated result to an app or destination you select. HISTI does not control what that destination does with information after you choose to share it.

Review anything before sharing it. Do not share a result if doing so would reveal information you want to keep private.

7. Acceptable use

Do not use HISTI to interfere with the service, bypass security controls, harm other users, distribute malware, or use the site in a way that violates applicable law.

Do not represent a HISTI result as a professional diagnosis, legal determination, safety certification, or official judgment about another person.

8. Availability and changes

HISTI may be changed, updated, interrupted, or discontinued. Features, questions, scoring rules, wording, and presentation may change over time.

Locally stored data may become incompatible with a future version or may be lost if your browser clears site data. If a result matters to you, keep your own copy.

9. Source code and content

HISTI’s public source is available through the project repository. Public access to source code does not, by itself, grant rights beyond the license or notices included with that source.

HISTI names, text, questions, graphics, and other content may be protected by intellectual-property law. Respect any license and attribution requirements that apply.

10. No warranties

HISTI is provided on an “as is” and “as available” basis to the extent permitted by law. Results may be incomplete, inaccurate, misunderstood, or affected by how questions are interpreted.

No promise is made that the service will always be available, error-free, suitable for a particular purpose, or appropriate for every person or situation.

11. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, HISTI and its operators are not responsible for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or similar losses arising from use of the service, reliance on a result, loss of locally stored data, or a user’s decision to share information.

Nothing in these terms excludes rights or liabilities that cannot legally be excluded.

12. Third-party services

Hosting, browsers, operating systems, and apps you choose for sharing may be operated by third parties under their own terms. HISTI is not responsible for those third-party services.

13. Changes to these terms

These terms may be updated as HISTI changes. The effective date at the top of this page shows when this version took effect. Continued use after an update means you accept the updated terms.

14. Contact

A dedicated HISTI contact email is being set up and will be published on the site once available.

Do not send check-in answers or other sensitive information by email.
